Baton Rouge, LA — LSU star forward Angel Reese announced Wednesday that she is declaring for the 2024 WNBA draft. This news comes as no surprise, as the forward will enter the pros as one of the sport's most prominent names. Last year, Reese led LSU to win its first national title and earned the Final Four Most Outstanding Player tile. Since their victory, LSU has been marked as the team to beat. The Tigers followed up that finish this year with a run to the Elite Eight before falling to Iowa on Monday.

Reese told Leah Faye Cooper of Vogue that this news couldn't be typical breaking news; she had to do it big. One week before the start of the NCAA tournament, Reese exclusively told Vogue that she was entering the WNBA draft.

"I didn't want anything to be basic. -- Of course, I like to do everything big," said Reese.

"I've done everything I wanted to in college," Reese told Vogue about her decision. I've won a national championship, I've gotten Player of the Year, and I've been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro -- and to be one of the greatest basketball players ever. I feel like I'm ready."

Reese's last game with LSU on Monday night, which saw the Tigers fall to Iowa in the Elite Eight round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, capped off an incredible college run.

It was an epic journey for Reese to land at LSU. The star forward had two seasons at the University of Maryland and was sidelined for months during the first year with a foot injury. Ultimately, she transferred to LSU to play under legendary coach Kim Mulkey, and it was up from there! Nicknamed Reese the Bayou Barbie, it was clear Reese made a statement with her game at LSU, and under the right leadership and surrounded by tight-knit teammates, she was in good hands. Her teammates, Flau’Jae Johnson and Hailey Van Lith, had shown how much of a bond LSU shared with Reese following their final game as teammates at LSU.

We’re all excited to see where the Bayou Barbie will end up!

Where do you think she’ll take her talents to?
