Exclusive: NFL Rookie Jahan Dotson

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Jahan Dotson is exactly what the Washington Commanders needed to be contenders this 2022 football season. The spotlight has been on the No. 16th draft pick, and it is no shock he's in the running to become the Rookie of the Year at the pace he's performing. In just his first week in the NFL, he was a fan favorite as he earned the NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week title with ease after a remarkable debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dotson came onto the scene with 40 receiving yards in the win over Jacksonville and scored two touchdowns. The wide receiver caught a perfect throw on a fly route from Carson Wentz securing the 28-22 victory for the Commanders in Week 1. In case you missed it, check it out below:

Dotson is dominating in the red zone, and all eyes are on the wide receiver as he's become Washington's most potent threat. We can all agree, HE'S HIM. And after speaking exclusively to his parents, we learn they couldn’t agree more. The Dotsons shared their thoughts on their son’s incredible start in the NFL, how the family is Jahan’s motivation, and how this is only just the beginning of an outstanding career.
When asked of Jahan’s most memorable moment in his career so far, without hesitation, the answer was his first touchdown. He scored his first career touchdown early in the second quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dotson breezed away from defenders finding an open spot in the back of the end zone. Quarterback Carson Wentz quickly spotted him and Dotson secured a 7-yard catch scoring his first touchdown, as well as his first career reception. Let’s take a look!
In just a few games we can see the passion Jahan plays with, and when asked “what is his motivation?” His father, Al Dotson, reveals it is family. In fact, the Penn State star has always shown this motivational drive from the very beginning of his career and we’ve sat front row to watch it transition into the NFL, which is truly special. Robin Bigelow-Dotson, Jahan’s mother shares that she’s grateful her son was drafted by Washington Commanders since it’s close to family.
“It definitely worked out, especially since it’s close to home. All of the family is able to be there,” said Robin Bigelow-Dotson, mother of Jahan.
We are only on week 4 and fans are already predicting Dotson to be the NFL’s Rookie of The Year. The word on the block is Jahan is that guy. All eyes are locked in on this rising star, and we can see precisely why. His parents are especially proud of him as they reveal how this journey has been.
“It is a dream come true”, says Al Dotson, Jahan’s father. “It is one of the most exciting moments of our life.”
