FIFA: Argentina Wins World Cup 2022

DOHA, QATAR - 64 matches, 32 teams, six continents, and one incredible tournament finished with Argentina on top. In a penalty showdown with Argentina scoring 4 and France with 2. The nail-biting finish had the world shook, as fans titled the match “The best World Cup Final..ever.” The Lusail Stadium hosted what will go down as one of the greatest World Cup finals of all time. And we couldn’t agree more. Argentina held onto the lead for most of the match, that was until French star, Kylian Mbappé converted a penalty and scored an equalizer forcing the game into extra-time. Messi answered back scoring late in the second-half of extra time, which had viewers thinking he secured Argentina the win, however Mbappé converted by scoring a hat-trick. The 23-year old French star is truly something special as he was crowned the first player since 1966 to score a hat-trick in the final of a World Cup. Despite his efforts, Messi and Argentina were the one’s crowned as the champions. It was Messi’s final chance at competing in the World Cup and he finally got his hands on the coveted World Cup trophy.

While hearts ached for France, and star player Mbappé, there was a happy ending as we all celebrated Argentina and Messi for securing the World Cup trophy. It was truly an iconic moment and the ultimate farewell to the GOAT. One of the most surreal moments in soccer history. How could anything capture the sound in Lusail’s stadium when Messi lifted the World Cup trophy? Or the calmness when Mbappé slotted a penalty to equalize in extra time? Simply one could not capture those surreal moments, but what a time to be alive, as we endeavored the greatest final of all time. What a proper farewell to the GOAT indeed.

On the contrary, Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo still has the numbers to back him up in this seemingly never-ending debate.
