NFL: Patriots Hire Jerod Mayo

NEW ENGLAND, MA — It hasn’t been 24 hours since the news that Belichick is parting ways with the New England Patriots, and it’s reported that Jerod Mayo will be filling his shoes as head coach. The Patriots wasted no time making moves to fill this role. Mayo is an internal hire, and it seems the Pats have had their eyes on him for quite some time. Mayo began his coaching career as an inside linebackers coach with the New England Patriots in 2019.

Jerod Mayo’s entire professional football career has been spent in New England. He was drafted in the first round by the Patriots in 2008, played all eight years of his career with them and has been their inside linebackers coach for the past five seasons.
