J-E-T-S UP? NFL WEEK 7 RECAP

Photo: FOX Sports

NEW YORK — We’re nearly halfway done with the NFL season as things heat up in the AFC Division and the NFC Division. The New York Jets are currently one game behind the stoic Buffalo Bills, who are at 5-2, and the Tampa Buccaneers are 3-4, giving Tom Brady one of his worst starts since 2002. Yes, you read that correctly. The Jets are up, and the Buccs are..well, let’s just say, “was it all worth it, Tom?” All this proves is how unpredictable football is, and we can’t take our eyes off it as the Jets made the necessary adjustments last season to become contenders this season. If you recall, earlier this year, I spoke to exclusively to ex-Jet’s Running-Back Austin Walter, and Walter mentioned the Jets were taking major steps to be contenders this year. Safe to say, those steps paid off. While the season is still early, let’s check out the standings, statistics, and key takeaways!

KEY TAKEAWAYS

MAHOMES BEING MAHOMES - If it’s one thing Patrick Mahomes knows how to do, it’s winning. Mahomes secured his 55th win in Week 7. The quarterback ties Hall of Famer Ken Stabler for the most wins in a player's first 70 career starts in the Super Bowl era. Per NFL, it’s recorded that Mahomes had already set the records for the most pass yards and passing touchdowns over that span.

DAK IS BACK - But it’ll always be the defense for me. LB Micah Parson stated pre-game, “There can only be one Lion.” While it was a slow start for the boys, the Dallas defense forced five takeaways and recorded five sacks in the team's 24-6 win over the Lions. The Cowboys lead the NFL with 29 sacks this season. Are the HOTBOYZ back?

JOE BRRRR ICES FALCONS - Don’t sleep on the Bengals! Joe Burrow’s had 481 passing yards, three pass touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown on the Atlanta Falcons. It was the most pass yards by any player since Burrow threw for 525 against the Ravens in Week 16 last season. Safe to say, the season is not over for the Bengals just yet, as they trail one game behind the division-leading Ravens.

NATIONAL TIGHT-ENDS DAY - 49ers George Kittle and Chiefs Travis Kelce celebrated the fourth official National Tight End Day almost identically. Both TEs had six receptions for 98 yards on Sunday. Definitely a great way to make a statement for the Tight-Ends Days!
