FIFA World Cup Shockers

LUSAIL, QATAR — After four years, the World Cup is back! And there are some shocking results, historic stats, and some upsets. Let’s get started. Starting with Saudi Arabia’s stunning victory over Argentina. The world was stunned as Argentina’s 36-match unbeaten streak has come to an end at the hands of Saudi Arabia. Argentina is the world number three team, on paper, and should have had no trouble beating the world number 51 Saudis. However, this leads us to the number one shocker of the 2022 World Cup. Saudi Arabia’s victory against Argentina, has has certainly made headlines. However, after losing to Poland with 0-2 loss, they are now ranked #3 in their Group. On Wednesday Saudi Arabia will face Mexico hoping to increase their ranking.

On the contrary things are looking up for Argentina. Following a 2-0 win over Mexico, Lionel Messi pulls Argentina out of a World Cup nightmare. Since the win, Argentina moves up to #2 within their group. Despite Mexico’s effort, Messi pelted a pinpoint left-footed shot past Guillermo Ochoa to break a deadlock scoring for Argentina keeping their FIFA World Cup dream alive. Messi is recorded to be the only man to assist in 5 World Cups!

Despite drama revolving around Portuguese soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo and him leaving Manchester United by mutual agreement. Ronaldo put the press aside as he leads Portugal in the World Cup. Currently ranking #1 within their group, following a victory over Ghana 3-2. Ronaldo has remained focused and is now recorded to be the only man to score in 5 World Cups. We are certainly living in historic times, as both GOATS, Messi and Ronaldo continue to do GOAT things.
