SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — I would say it was an unpopular opinion, but NBA’s 2023 All-Star Weekend was a snooze fest, and many would agree making it a popular opinion. Between the lack of defense in the All-Star game, the brick shooting contest, mediocre skills test, it was almost hard to watch. Social media flooded with their opinions and we wondered, what’s the point of an all-star weekend with such little effort amongst the stars of the NBA? We can all agree no one wants to see any player get hurt in a game that literally doesn’t count towards regular season - we get it. And we can also agree the bigger picture is raising funds for charities. But what does the NBA have to do to shake things up and make the All-Star Weekend great again? Let’s check the stats provided by NBA Central, warning they are quite shocking..

Well, there you have it : The NBA All-Star audience is getting smaller by the year - regardless of the star players involved.

Luckily, this year we had Mac McClung who showed out during this years dunk contest, and let’s just say he carried this years All-Star Weekend single-handedly. McClung won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. 19 out of his 20 scores from the judges were a perfect 50, with a lone 49 in his second dunk of the first round. Check out his 540 Dunk below!

Since his jaw-dropping performance that left the crowd wanting more, McClung now signed with the 76ers, signed a deal with Puma, and was crowned 2023 Slam contest winner. A lot can happen in just a week! Safe to say we’ll be watching McClung closely as he joins Joel Embiid and James Harden in Phillythis should be good.
