NBA: Kevin Durant Traded to Phoenix Suns
BROOKLYN — When you think things couldn't possibly get worse for the Brooklyn Nets following Kyrie Irving's trade to the Dallas Mavericks, MVP Kevin Durant is also on his way out. The breaking news hit, and it didn't take social media long to flood with pictures of Kevin Durant in a Suns uniform. Suns acquire Kevin Durant from Nets in a blockbuster deal. Here's a closer look at the deal, Durant was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns for a package that includes dynamic forward Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and four unprotected future first-round picks. Headlines flooded with the news claiming the Brooklyn era ended, showing a photo of James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant all in Brooklyn uniforms, but let's be honest here - when did it even start?
In what we thought would be a super team, the Brooklyn Nets failed to get an NBA title despite having MVP and all-star players in their starting line-up. All three stars are on different teams; Harden is with the 76ers, Irving with Dallas Mavericks, and Durant with the Phoenix Suns, and this is the end to the great superstar experiment in Brooklyn. Such a failed opportunity; we can't help but think about the issue in Brooklyn. Coaching? Incompatibility?
Irving stated, "I'm glad he got out of there," in response to the Durant trade just days after he also left the team for the Mavericks. There is a lot to unfold there, but now the Nets organization has to move forward and build with their new players despite the noise of the media.
Durant, 34, focuses on joining Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton on the Suns. One end to one superteam and going on to another. Many are excited to see where this move will take the Suns, who always seem to come up short in the finals. What do you think? Will CP3 secure a ring this year?
