NBA: LeBron James Crowned MVP as Lakers Defeat Pacers at In-Season Tournament
LAS VEGAS, NV — LeBron James just won’t let up. The 38-year-old is scarily just getting better and better, beating all the odds as the King himself was declared NBA’s first In-Season Tournament MVP. The Lakers had a perfect run through the In-Season Tournament, and James put up 24 points and secured 11 rebounds, clinching the win 123-109 over the Indiana Pacers. James averaged 26.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in seven games this tournament.
James stood at the podium postgame after a few celebratory champagne swigs. With one hand cradling the trophy and a gold medal around his neck, the King delivered an MVP speech that showcased his sportsmanship. Despite Lakers forward Anthony Davis, who had an explosive performance, scoring 41 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists, the MVP award was still granted to James.
“I know who I am. He (Davis) knows who he is,” James told ESPN when asked about his teammate Davis going into their fifth season together.
It’s clear the media isn’t going to get in between this powerhouse duo. James and Davis are focused and locked in on this early NBA Season with a close team dynamic.
