Sha’Carri Richardson’s Speech Stuns Media after winning Female Athlete of the Year

ORLANDO, Florida - At the “Night of Legends,” track star Sha’Carri Richardson took home the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Athlete of the Year for women after winning gold in the 100m, anchoring the women's 4x100m relay team to gold and winning the bronze in the 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August. This girl has been on fire all year, and she’s not letting up! Richardson shared a speech that went viral and left a special message.

The God that I serve - Everything happens when it’s supposed to happen.
— Sha'Carri Richardson

Perseverance is the perfect word to describe track star Sha ‘Carri Richardson and her incredible journey. The best part is that Richardson is just starting her career and has already made a significant impact. Richardson was crowned Female Athlete of the Year, rightfully so, but it was not easy. Richardson has a powerful story drawing back to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she was disqualified for testing positive for Marijuana. The drug marijuana is currently legal across many states in the US, which caused significant controversy over the matter. Frustrated and humiliated, Richardson could not compete, and the world turned its back on her as she flooded headlines with claims that the athlete ruined her opportunity. While the world judged and shamed her, Richardson held her head high and did the necessary work to clap back at those mocking her. Her competitiveness, drive, and the track star showed one of the greatest comebacks and rightfully earned Athlete of the Year as she muted the noise and excelled her way to the finish line in the most stoic way.
