NFL: Eagles and Chiefs for Super Bowl LVII

PHILADELPHIA — It was set to be a competitive match, with the Philadelphia Eagles facing the San Francisco 49ers. And it was undoubtedly a defensive match between the number one defense in the league battling the nearly unstoppable Eagles. However, things shifted after the 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy came out after suffering an elbow injury on the 49ers’ first possession of the game. If the San Francisco team couldn’t catch a break after that, their backup quarterback Josh Johnson suffered a concussion in the third quarter. You can visibly see the frustration in the number one defense as they totaled 11 penalties for 81 yards, some of which extended key Eagles drives. The game was a runaway for the Eagles as they defeated the 49ers 31-7.

Let’s go to Arrowhead Stadium, where the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the AFC Championship in the blistering cold against the Cincinnati Bengals. Last game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was questionable with a high-ankle sprain, however, head coach Andy Reid quickly cleared those rumors and revealed Patrick was indeed playing. And Mahomes played a great game, accumulating 326 yards, two touchdowns, a 105.4 passing rating, and zero interceptions. Mahomes was spot on despite his injury, and tight end Travis Kelce did exactly what needed to be done, sealing a 23-20 Chiefs win. Kelce connected with Mahomes 7 times for 78 yards and a touchdown. But Kicker Harrison Butker sent Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl with a game-winning 45-yard field goal where they’ll face the Eagles.

Despite the championship loss, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a tough night, sacked five times, threw two interceptions, and could not drive his team downfield late in the fourth quarter of the AFC title game. Nonetheless a terrific run for the Bengals, but it was the Chiefs moving forward despite their efforts.
