NFL: Have the Eagles and Dolphins been Exposed?
PHILADELPHIA, PA — You could hear a pin drop at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday after the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, placing them second in the NFC East. The silence spoke volumes, and now trailing Dallas with only one game left, many are wondering, “What happened?” The narrative has changed numerous times during this NFL season. Specifically, the narrative that the Eagles are to be a Superbowl contender has changed in just a matter of weeks. After losing 35-31 on Sunday, a brutal reality hit the birds like a crystal clear glass window. The reality is they have to get it together and fast.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni knows if they want to return to the Super Bowl, the Eagles must figure out their issues quickly. A visibly frustrated Sirianni told the press he’s focused on addressing those issues and the team’s goals are ahead of them.
"Path might be harder, but shoot, our goals are ahead of us. We have to get things fixed, and we have to get them fixed fast," he said, via the team transcript. "We are not where we want to be right yet as far as how we are playing right now and how we are coaching right now but we've got time to get it fixed and we'll get back to work tonight and tomorrow," said Sirianni.
Earlier last month, following the brutal loss to the 49ers, 42-19, many fans were not as shocked with the turnout of Sunday’s game. In fact, after losing 13-33 against the Dallas Cowboys it became clear the Eagles were not much of a threat. With the back-to-back loss paired with a tight match against the New York Giants, barely winning 25-33, things are looking grim for the birds. Luckily for them, they aren’t the only team getting scrutinized for their drastic change of game this season.
Dolphins vs. Ravens
In short, the Dolphins looked terrible. The Baltimore Ravens crushed the Dolphins with a score of 56-19. Let’s be clear, the Dolphins didn’t look like a team that currently sits in first place in the AFC East. They were completely unrecognizable, as both sides of the ball struggled to do much. The defense couldn’t stop quarterback Lamar Jackson, as he had his way with Vic Fangio’s unit. The Dolphins’ offense turned the ball over three times, which only made matters worse. Fans ran onto social media flooding their thoughts on the Dolphins’ performance, even questioning if there was another quarterback to throw more accurately than Tua Tagovailoa, yikes. One thing I can admit is the NFL fans’ toxicity in changing the narrative in just one game is prevalent. One week you’re MVP the next you’re benched. Suddenly it’s the Ravens who are stealing headlines and are now showcasing a high percentage of making a Superbowl appearance after their big win against the Fins. The Ravens improved to 13-3 and officially claimed the #1 seed for the AFC Playoffs.
