Nikola Jokic's Masterpiece Triple-Double Helps Nuggets Beat Lakers

DENVER — Nikola Jokić became the first player in NBA playoff history to record 34 Points, 21 Rebounds, and 14 Assists. Jokić’s incredible performance secured the Nugget’s win 132-126 over the Lakers in Game 1 of the West finals, despite great efforts from LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Davis and James combined for 66 points but trailed by 6 points in the end. And on the flip side, you have Jokic and Jamal Murray on the Nuggets’ roster combining for 65 points. This series is arguably one of the best we’ve seen, with stellar duos that make this match-up intense.

Jokić is currently the best basketball player in the world, and it's time we all admit it. How many times are you all going to play with this man? He’s proven game after game that you have to put some respect on his name! Check out these stats from the big man’s spectacular performance over the playoffs and his career.

Jokic essentially averaged a 35-point triple-double against the Suns in the conference semifinals. He joined LeBron James as the only two players in the last 50 seasons to score at least 200 points, 70 rebounds, and 60 assists in a single series. And if you’re still not convinced, he’s also the third player to ever average a 30-point triple-double through an entire series. Give this man the respect he deserves.

While it’s still early, it’s looking like a path to the Finals for the Nuggets. What do you think? Let’s examine Game 2 on Friday together as the battle resumes.
