NBA: Ja Morant is suspended…again.
MEMPHIS — Well, the Memphis Grizzlies are already off to a rocky start next season, as they most likely will be without their star player, Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is suspended from Grizzlies activities after a live video circulated of him appearing to hold a gun surfaced online. You read that correctly and may feel like you’re experiencing déjà vu. This is the second time Morant was suspended for posting a weapon on social media. Honestly, we’re all thinking it…seriously Ja?! At this point, could it get any worse? I’m almost afraid to ask, as Morant seems to be pushing his luck.
Remember this statement from two months ago?
"Obviously, I've made mistakes in the past that cause a lot of negative attention — not only to me, but my family as well, my team, the organization — and I'm completely sorry for that," Morant said. "So my job now is, like I said, to be more responsible, more smarter, and don't cause any of that no more."
This statement was released after the first string of incidents and upon his return from the suspension, where Morant seemingly took responsibility for his actions. But only two months later, yet another video surfaced.
The Instagram Live video in question was posted Saturday, and it shows Morant in a car with friends, and for a brief second, as the camera pans to him, it appears that he is holding a gun. After the video made the rounds on social media, the Grizzlies suspended their star guard. The league then announced it was launching an investigation into the situation.
Memphis suspended the All-Star guard from all team activities. But that's not the only suspension Morant could be facing. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the franchise centerpiece could face a "significant suspension" from the league. Significant, as it should be. At this point, the guard’s reckless behavior can potentially ruin his career. Check out Stephen A.’s take on this issue.
Well, one this is for sure, Ja Morant is fined in the West.
